And to kick off that goal, the university is hosting the First Annual Hawaii Sustainability in Higher Education Summit. The summit started yesterday at UH West Oahu and runs through this afternoon.
Attendees are busy outlining goals and designing a UH system-wide policy on sustainability. Topics include environmental stewardship and cost-saving efforts through the more efficient use of resources such as energy and water.
UH is hosting the event, though other institutions are collaborating as well, including Hawaii Pacific University and Brigham Young University.
