UHM’s library placed 20th out of 442 college and university libraries, with an overall score of 82.9 out of 100.
The rankings are based on points gained from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Google+ and Flickr involvement.
UHM’s top score was for Google+, where the library has 447 people in its circle and 455 +1s. The library also scored well in the Twitter (663 followers and 2,002 tweets) and Facebook (807 likes, 67 posts, 667 were here) categories.
According to a UHM press release, “The University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Library has been actively and aggressively developing its social media channels to inform and generate interest and support from the student body, faculty and local community for the past two years.”
The library has a four-member social media team whose goal is to inform the university community about initiatives, services and collections, among other roles. The team actively searches for interesting content to share with the public, too.
