Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui went online to announce his bid to run for lieutenant governor next year.

The announcement came via ElectShan.com and a Facebook page. Excerpt:

Shan has and continues to work collaboratively with leaders and constituents alike, not concerning himself with the usual politics, but instead seeking to foster a positive working environment where the responsibility and authority is shared and all are able to reap the benefits of focusing on the issues at hand.”

Tsutsui, the former Senate president appointed to LG when Brian Schatz was appointed to the U.S. Senate, is 41 and lives on Maui with his wife and three daughters. Serving as Tsutsui’s Honorary Campaign Chairperson is retired U.S. Senator Dan Akaka, a fellow Democrat.

The Hawaii Construction Alliance immediately endorsed Tsutsui.
