Hawaiian activists, environmentalists, attorneys and archaeologists stormed Gov. Abercrombie’s office Tuesday with a petition and signs protesting his decision to quietly sign Senate Bill 1171 last week.
The new law allows the phased review of archaeological sites. It’s intended to speed up development projects, including the Honolulu rail project which was stalled when ancient Hawaiian burials were discovered along the route.
