The Honolulu City Council plans to eliminate smoking at bus stops, but as with any measure this one carries a cost.

City officials say it will need to install new signs at 4,000 bus stops around the island if Bill 28 passes.

The cost? $100,000, or about $25 per sign. Here’s the memo that spells it out.
