Hacking and cyber security classes seem to be popping up at universities across the state. The University of Hawaii at West Oahu, for example, is going to be offering a new degree devoted to that kind of stuff.

And now Chaminade University is holding a conference for local businesses to show them how they can protect sensitive information and prevent data breaching of all sorts, including identity theft, cyber threats and network intrusions.

The CyBiz Forum is going to be held August 13 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Chaminade’s Mamiya Theatre. Tickets cost $60 through July 31, after which they’ll be sold for $100.

Professional hacker Johnny Long and retired federal law enforcement instructor Kevin Manson will teach about hacking and what can be done to stop it.
