In response to public concerns, Hawaii’s Department of Land and Natural Resources will be holding a public meeting Thursday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to discuss water propulsion jet packs.

The sport that sends water goers flying through the air includes what is popularly known as JetLevs and Flyboards.

From DLNR:

WHO:                  Welcome
·        William J. Aila, Jr., DLNR Chairperson
Remarks
·        Randy Awo, Administrator, DLNR Division of Conservation and Resource Enforcement
·        Edward Underwood, Administrator, DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation
·        Ivan Richards, Recreational Boating Safety Specialist, U.S. Coast Guard
·        Current Operators, Applicants, and Fishermen

Water propulsion jet packs consists of a boat unit that delivers pressurized water to an airborne flight unit worn on the user’s back. The boat unit can be manned or unmanned. In addition, the pressure from the flight unit can “fly” an operator up to 30 feet above the water and travel at top speeds of about 32 mph.
The meeting will be held at DLNR in Room 132, 1151 Punchbowl St, downtown Honolulu.
