The Hawaii Department of Education has overhauled its online presence and today launched a new, redesigned website aimed at enhancing the department’s transparency and better engaging with the public.

The new site — HawaiiPublicSchools.org — includes all things DOE, including education initiatives and reform efforts, school data and college- and career-readiness projects. It features multimedia such as video and photo galleries, as well as an employment section for those interested in working for the department.

The DOE used $1.7 million of its four-year $75 million federal Race to the Top grant to build the new website. It’ll also use some of those funds to develop a private communications network for staff.

According to a press release, the department spent nearly a year researching and seeking public and staff input for the site.
