It’s official! Feeding feral pigeons “excessively” will get you into hot water with the State Health Department, thanks to a new law signed by Gov. Neil Abercrombie today.
The bill makes excessive feral bird feeding a public health nuisance.
The bill is really targeted at a Pearl City resident who is a frequent pigeon feeder. The birds roosted on his roof, and subsequently pooped on the neighbors’ lanais, causing quite the stink.
What’s odd here is that the feral birds bill, as this measure was known, was one of the nine bills that the governor said he might veto. But somehow it made it to his desk anyway for signing.
