Sherry Menor-McNamara,  president-elect of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, is making the rounds in Washington, D.C. this week, meeting with Congressional leaders and federal agencies about job creation.

Menor-McNamara said she’s been talking up Hawaii’s efforts in clean energy, tourism and the impact military sequestration is having.

“We hope this collaborative and information-sharing approach continues because it helps us promote the great things we are doing in our state and the need to improve the business climate,” she said in an email.

Menor-McNamara said she met with Senate leaders including Majority Leader Harry Reid, in a visit arranged by Sen. Brian Schatz. She also met with Sen. Mazie Hirono and aides to Reps. Collen Hanabusa and Tulsi Gabbard.  Menor-McNamara said she also had meetings at the U.S. Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturing, and will be meeting with the State Department.
