We noted yesterday that Rep. Tulsi Gabbard was named one of the 50 most beautiful people on Capitol Hill. Turns out another person associated with Hawaii’s delegation is on the list. And her story is more compelling than Gabbard’s.

Julie McClain, a press secretary for Sen. Brian Schatz, is also on the list compiled by The Hill. She said in an email that she heard she was nominated for the honor a couple of days after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and beginning chemotherapy.

According to The Hill article, “The prognosis is good — her cancer was caught at stage one — but she’ll be in chemotherapy through the fall.”

The article continued, “the health scare hasn’t damped the 25-year-old’s sunny personality or optimistic outlook. ‘I was never angry about it because everyone has something in their lives. I feel lucky that mine is curable and I have people in my life that are supportive,’ she said.”
