Both of Hawaii’s senators on Monday voted for a short-term budget bill that stripped House Republican attempts to delay health care reform in return for keeping the government open.

The so-called clean bill was sent back to the House, with only hours remaining to pass a stopgap measure to avoid a government shutdown.

A last-minute deal seems unlikely.

Roll Call reported that House Republicans are working on finding enough votes for a bill to delay only the portion of the Affordable Care Act requiring individuals get health insurance. That’s not going to fly in the Senate, so a shutdown seems likely.
