Rep. Ryan Yamane, Transportation chairman; Rep. Chris Lee, Energy & Environmental Protection chairman; and Rep. Della Au Belatti, Health chairwoman, will conduct a site visit Monday morning (Sept. 16) to Honolulu Harbor and be briefed on the impacts of the recent molasses spill.

The group will be accompanied by officials from the Department of Health, Department of Land and Natural Resources, the Department of Transportation and Matson Inc.

The site visit was organized by Yamane, who release this statement:

“We are very concerned with how the molasses incident has impacted marine wildlife, our oceanic ecosystem, and our many harbor users.  This tour is in collaboration with the Departments of Transportation, Health, Land and Natural Resources, and Matson Navigation with the intent to assess the environmental impacts, explore potential solutions, and ensure that this situation is not repeated.”
