The University of Hawaii is inviting nominations for a new task force that aims to improve support for student veterans.

UH Interim President David Lassner and U.S. Veterans Administration Secretary Eric Shinseki, a Kauai native and retired general, announced their plans to create the task force at a press conference last week.

The university enrolls more than 2,400 veterans total in its 10 campuses, or 4 percent of the entire student body.

Nominations should be sent by email to president@hawaii.edu. The UH president will then appoint the task force.
