Senate Bill 1, the same-sex marriage bill that passed a Hawaii Senate panel late Monday, was approved by the chamber on second reading today.

That means the full Senate will vote on third reading of SB 1 Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. If passed, it will be heard during a long hearing Thursday before the House Judiciary and Finance committees.

SB 1 passed without objection. Sens. Donovan Dela Cruz, Kalani English, Gil Kahele and Senate President Donna Mercado Kim were excused.
