Has Honolulu Been ‘Manhattanized’?

Elizabeth Greenspan writes in the New Yorker that to be “Manhattanized” has taken a new meaning recently (h/t HuffPost Hawaii):

This is the new meaning of “Manhattanization”: turning a city into a playground for the wealthiest inhabitants, even as it forgets about the poorest.

Does this ring true with Honolulu? As the city continues to approve developments, does it risk favoring the wealthy at the expense of the poor?
