POLITICO has the story from Fox News Sunday. Excerpt:
Senate Chaplain Barry Black says there’s a level of “insanity” involved in the current government shutdown. …
Black, whose invocations on the Senate floor have gained widespread attention because of his criticism of the shutdown, said he’s had senators tell him he’s influenced their thinking on the issue. …
Asked what it would take to end the current impasse, the former Navy chaplain said: “It’s going to take humility.”
NOTE: Today marks Day 13 of the shutdown; President Obama this weekend has rejected proposals from both House and Senate Republicans to end the impasse, and the matter now lies with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
In spite of strong differences, there are indications that a resolution to the shutdown and government borrowing limit (which faces a Thursday deadline) may be forthcoming.
