The company is tacking on an extra $175 for each westbound container and $85 for each eastbound container starting on January 5.
The company is also raising its terminal handling charge by $50 and $25 for westbound and eastbound containers respectively.
Shipping rates to and from Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and other islands in Micronesia are also increasing by $275 effective Jan. 26, 2014. That’s in addition to a $75 boost in the West Coast terminal handling charge.
Affected island nations include the Republic of Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
