In Honolulu, about 9.1 percent of commuters skip the car and walk to work.

Of those people, about 41 percent fall in the 25 to 44 age range.

This information comes from U.S. Census data that was recently compiled by Governing magazine for a piece on the country’s most walkable cities.

While 9.1 percent isn’t enough to make Honolulu crack the top 10, it’s pretty close.

No. 10 on the list is Providence, R.I., a place that sees 10.8 percent of its commuters pounding the pavement to get to their jobs.

Check out Governing magazine’s piece on the most walkable cities here.

Or you can go directly to the magazine’s map here.

Just try not to be too offended that the dot representing Honolulu is actually located on the Big Island.
