Weather Cancels Mayor’s Marriage Equality Family Day

The Mayor’s Marriage Equality Family Day and Celebration at Thomas Square, which was set to run from noon to 4 p.m. today, has been cancelled due to weather.

However, the pre-registration of couples who will be married tonight is still being held — it’s been relocated to the Mayor’s Office of Culture and Arts, 550 South King St., 2nd Floor. License agents and event organizers will be available from to prepare for this evening’s event and answer questions. …

Six same-sex couples from Oahu will among the first in Hawaii to marry on Sunday just after midnight. The Sheraton Waikiki, in conjunction with the Hawaii Marriage Equality Celebration Committee, a coalition of LGBT organizations and others, have planned a celebration to mark the historic event.
