The nominees are Derrick H.M. Chan, Jeffrey P. Crabtree, Craig Nakamura, Richard K. Perkins, John M. Tonaki and Michael D. Wilson.
Abercrombie will submit his nominee, to fill the mandatory retirement of Associate Justice Simeon Acoba in March, to the Senate Judiciary and Labor Committee. It will be the governor’s third pick for the high court.
According to the commission, there were 16 applicants total this year; only two were female. Three were three government attorneys, five private attorneys, nine judges, three aged 41-50, eight aged 51-60 and five aged 61-70.
