Hawaii Senate President Donna Mercado Kim surpassed other 1st Congressional District candidates in fundraising for her campaign to take over the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, according to federal reports filed last week. Political cartoonist John Pritchett points out others ways in which Mercado Kim leads the pack of Democratic candidates vying for the open seat in the Aug. 9 primary.
