The searchable data system that allows candidates to file their campaign disclosure forms — and for the media and the public to examine them — was down as of this morning.

But, as of midday, it appears to be back in operation.

A spokeswoman at the Campaign Spending Commission said the site went down some time over the weekend.

Commission staff worked to get the site back up.

The data on the site covers the period from Nov. 8, 2006, through June 30 of this year, “which encompasses the elections of 2008 through 2014 as well as data for candidates that may be running in a future.”

A Civil Beat reader wanting to look at the files of the Pacific Resource Partnership alerted me to the problem.

Among the candidates trying to access the site is Maui state Sen. Gil Keith-Agaran.

He said on his Twitter feed this morning:

Hawaii Candidate Filing System at Campaign Spending Commission still not working with a report due on July 30. Had wanted to file early.

I’m assuming the Candidate Filing System will be available for entering in data with enough time to file a report by July 30th.
