Tropical Storm Iselle hit the Big Island on Thursday night and Friday, bringing high waves, fallen trees and empty streets as people hunkered down to wait things out. The impact was less severe in Maui, and Oahu has escaped mostly unscathed so far.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Julio is expected to arrive late Sunday or early Monday, likely having weakened to a tropical storm.
Civil Beat reporters and photographers have been on the ground and filing their reports here as well as to civilbeat.com. This is a community forum, too, so please contribute, comment and trade information about the storms. Comments will be moderated and inaccurate information removed. Please be civil.
For other information on the storms’ status go to the National Weather Service’s Central Pacific Hurricane Center or the Hawaii State Civil Defense site.
