A new study in the journal Nature is out today and offers some hope for those of us who care about the dying off of coral reefs throughout the world.
The Guardian reports on it in this story. Basically, scientists studying the Great Barrier Reef now believe mass bleaching caused by global warming can be reversed in some parts of the oceans, including the North Pacific — the Marshall Islands and Hawaii.
That’s good news, the article says, because scientists will be better able to target areas that are most likely to be saved, especially as climate change results in even more problems for the reefs.
