The Hill has this story on how a bipartisan pair from the House Armed Services Committee “recently called on their fellow lawmakers to reverse the military’s sequester, saying the budget cuts are impacting the Army’s readiness.”

The call comes from U.S. Reps. Tulsi Gabbard, the Democrat of Hawaii, and Martha Roby (R-Ala.).

“Inaction will put us further down the path of undermining our national security, local economies, and the livelihoods of military families who have sacrificed so much over the last thirteen years,” the two wrote Friday in a “Dear Colleague” letter to all House members.

Gabbard’s office issued a press release Monday in which she and Roby pointed to an Army study reporting a projected decline in troop strength if the sequester cuts are not rolled back.

“Installations are listed in the table below with the greatest possible cumulative military and civilian employee losses,” according to Gabbard’s office. “In addition to the actual military and civilian jobs impacted, thousands of Army family members will also bear the burden of force reductions should sequestration continue.”
