It’s Saint Patrick’s Day, a time to honor the Irish, wear something green and — in the case of at least two state lawmakers — rake in the green.
Joe Souki, the speaker of the Hawaii House of Representatives, is holding a campaign fundraiser Tuesday night at a hotel in Waikiki. There’s no suggested donation, but if it’s $25 or less, he doesn’t have to inform the state Campaign Spending Commission.
Meanwhile, Rep. Kyle Yamashita is raising some green of his own Tuesday night at Mandalay Restaurant downtown, the preferred place for most Hawaii pols to pass the plate. The suggested donation is $25.
Tuesday is Day 29 of the Hawaii Legislature, one day before the crossover deadline for the state budget.
