Another day, another couple of rounds of national exposure for U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

The Hawaii congresswoman appeared on Wolf Blitzer’s “The Situation Room” on CNN on Thursday to talk about how the U.S. should focus its resources in the fight against the Islamic State.

And The Hill posted an article about Gabbard beneath the headline, “Hawaii Dem Takes on Obama,” calling her “one of the toughest critics of President Obama’s strategy agains the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.”

Gabbard told The Hill she has spoken to the White House about her criticism, but not to Obama himself.

“The president hasn’t called me. I’ve had a number of ongoing conversations with different people in the administration about some of these issues, both one-on-one, as well as in smaller, classified group settings,” she said.

Meanwhile, Gabbard announced she was joining a bipartisan effort “to strengthen (the) Privacy Oversight Board and protect Americans’ civil liberties.”

She said she was joining two senators and one other representative in reintroducing the Strengthening Privacy, Oversight, and Transparency Act, which would give the Oversight Board “greater authorities to carry out its function of balancing the government’s national security and counterterrorism activities with the need to protect the privacy rights of law-abiding Americans.”
