More than 300 homes and businesses in Kalihi have reported problems with their telephone landlines, according to a Hawaiian Telcom spokeswoman.
Some residents have not had service for over a week. Others say that when someone calls they get a busy signal.
Hawaiian Telcom says heavy rains in September caused the problem and are also complicating crews’ efforts to make repairs.
The company says all available resources are being put toward addressing the problem.
The National Weather Service forecasts continued showers in Kalihi over the next several days.
