Nai Aupuni Aha Now Televised

Olelo Community Media is providing live cablecasts of the Native Hawaiian Governance Convention this month.

To paraphrase Gil Scott-Heron, the revolution will be televised after all.

OK, it may be improper to characterize Nai Aupuni‘s private convention on Native Hawaiian self-determination as a revolution.

But at least the public is now being allowed a look inside the aha, several weeks after it began.

Olelo Community Media is providing live cablecasts of the Native Hawaiian Governance Convention, which is taking place at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club in Windward Oahu.

The aha is scheduled to run through Feb. 26, and Olelo is the only media allowed to cover the convention.

In a press release Thursday, Olelo said it will air an estimated 124 hours of live coverage on Channel 53 on both Oceanic Time Warner and Hawaiian Telcom cable on Oahu.

Each live cablecast session will be made available for viewing on demand within 48 hours of its airing on Olelo’s YouTube site and on Olelo’s video on demand site.

Programs will also be available on Olelo digital channel 52, a statewide public access Video on Demand Channel on Oceanic Time Warner Cable.
