Ernie Martin held a campaign fundraiser Wednesday night at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club.
The suggested donation was $1,000.
Martin, chair of the Honolulu City Council, is term-limited and is set to serve on the Council until 2018.
So, why is he asking for cash?

Mayor Kirk Caldwell is up for re-election, of course. No challengers … yet.
This is Martin’s fifth fundraiser since February 2015, and his second in just the past two months.
