Do you care about the importance of ethics in state government?

Then you should consider applying to sit on the Hawaii State Ethics Commission.

The commission addresses “ethical issues involving legislators, registered lobbyists, and state employees (with the exception of judges, who are governed by the Commission on Judicial Conduct),” says the council.

The five commission members are responsible for “investigating complaints, providing advisory opinions, and enforcing decisions issued” by the commission.

All that, and you can expect total love from the Hawaii Legislature. OK, maybe not total love, but it’s an important job.

The Judicial Council has extended the deadline for applications to March 31, 2016.

It’s a voluntary gig, applicants from all islands may apply and travel expenses incurred by neighbor island commissioners to attend Oahu meetings will be reimbursed.
