U.S. Rep. Mark Takai on Friday endorsed Colleen Hanabusa’s candidacy to replace him in Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District.
Hanabusa formerly served two terms in the seat, and announced her candidacy Thursday. Takai decided not to seek re-election because he is battling pancreatic cancer.
Takai released this statement:
“Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa has devoted her life to building a brighter future for Hawaii and fighting to give working families a real opportunity to get ahead. I am proud to endorse Colleen because I know she will be the champion Hawaii needs in Washington. And I know she will continue our fight for progress with the same passion we saw when she ably represented us for four years in Congress.”
