Growing up partially on Oahu, Kirstin Downey used to attend Kailua High School. Later she worked many years for The Washington Post, where she helped win a Pulitzer Prize. Now she’s with Civil Beat as the only full-time Washington, D.C.-based journalist employed by a Hawaii media organization.

She joins the Pod Squad with host Chad Blair to discuss possible changes to the federal government during a Trump administration that could impact Hawaii significantly, from military spending to Social Security.
