The central Oʻahu district was hard hit in the recent Kona low storms.

Incumbent Democratic member for District 46, Amy Perruso, is running for reelection. On the Republican side of the aisle, two candidates are facing off in the Aug. 8 primary to determine who will challenge her in the fall.

Perruso has represented the district that includes Wahiawā, Whitmore Village, Launani Valley, Waipiʻo Acres, Waialua and Mokulēʻia since 2018.

All three registered candidates filled out a survey from Civil Beat, outlining their views on improving public schools, the backlog of bills at the end of every legislative session and how they would diversify Hawaiʻi’s economy.

Their responses are linked here in alphabetical order under their official ballot name, which you can also compare all in one spot on Civil Beat’s 2026 Hawaiʻi Primary Ballot.
