Mayor Michael Victorino announced Monday morning that both Maui wildfires, “which burned 9,200 acres combined,” are 100 percent contained, according to our media partner KITV.
“Firefighters will continue mop-up work until the fires are declared extinguished,” Victorno said.

There were no reports of injuries or major property damage, although the fires required evacuations and road closures.
The public is advised to stay away from all burned areas in Central and South Maui.
The first fire began Thursday near the intersection of Kuihelani Highway and Waiko Road.
