Join Civil Beat for an election-focused pop-up newsroom on Monday.
Civil Beat’s Maui editor Nathan Eagle will host a meeting for Maui residents to learn more about the candidates running for the Maui County Council from the South Kihei area on Monday.
The gathering, a spin-off of our pop-up newsrooms, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the J. Walter Cameron Center, 95 Mahalani St. in Wailuku.
The candidates who have confirmed they will attend are incumbent Tom Cook and challengers Kelly King and Johnny Prones.
We’ll begin at 11 a.m. with Nathan leading a discussion of key issues we think the candidates should address. We’ll include questions from the audience, too, so come prepared with your own concerns and thoughts that we will share with the candidates.
And we plan to leave plenty of time for you to mingle and chat informally with the candidates. Light pupus and beverages will be provided.
These are not intended to be political rallies so please come to learn more about the candidates and issues.
We also plan to record the event so if you can’t make it the video should be available the next on our website.
